Emech Attendance to Worldwide Food Expo a Huge Success, and step ahead for Emech Business. - 28th November 2007

Attendance at the recent 2007 Worldwide Food Expo, has demonstrated how far the Emech business has progressed in the international market space in the last 2 years.

Attendance at the 2005 Expo was very much about introducing the Emech product set and brand to the global market. Emech was at this time a newcomer and relatively unknown internationally.

A lot of time was spent introducing the product and business to prospective customers. CEO Marcel Van Dijck describes this process as a lot of door knocking and heavy lifting to get exposure in developing an entrance to the international market space.

Attendance at the 2007 show saw a significant shift in the Emech visitor profile to include a pleasing level of customer recognition and attendance by existing customers at the Emech booth.

Emech CEO Marcel Van Dijck (right) and VP Sales and Marketing Nigel Bartlett (left) present to customers during the recent Worldwide Foodtech show.

Customers took the opportunity at the show to catch up with Emech representatives, as well as discuss new and varied applications and upcoming projects. Emech took the opportunity to present a broader range of product at this show including the F2 range of two port valves, and the high flow steam water mixer solution in conjunction with Komax TM systems. In addition Emech launched its new brochure and range of application briefs that tell the story of how Emech is delivering value to customers.

The movement from just door knocking, to a higher level of engagement and co-operation with both new and existing customers is extremely exciting. VP Sales and Marketing Nigel Bartlett describes such a change in activity as demonstrating that the business is progressing rapidly into a recognized organization that adds real value to our customers and more importantly solves what many had considered unsolvable problems. Emech is not considered a “me too” supplier, but is increasingly being recognized as a leading technology partner, that works alongside customers to achieve success for all the stakeholders involved in our projects.

Emech Control Releases New Business Prospectus and Application Briefs
1st November 2007

Download Emech's 2007 Product BrochureOctober 2007 at the Worldwide Foodtech show was the launch platform for new marketing material to build on the success that Emech has achieved in the marketplace. Emech launched its new business prospectus and a series of documents labeled application briefs that tell the story of how Emech is able to add value to its customers in real applications.

The new business prospectus replaces the previous product brochure to now present the holistic capability of the business as a whole. In the last two years the Emech business has expanded upon the success and experience gained from the use of the Emech F3 series of systems for blending hot and cold water to one that has seen its product set and unique value proposition embraced into a wider solutions focus on industrial control challenges. Emech has both learned from, and built upon our success to understand the real value we bring to our customers.

The deployment of Emech technology, whether a complete system of valve and actuator, or individual valves or actuators in conjunction with other vendored product delivers a new definition of precision and accuracy in performance.

VP Sales and Marketing Nigel Bartlett explains that the evolution in market appearance for Emech is a repositioning of the Emech brand as a Superior Industrial Process Control business that delivers real world returns to previously unsolvable problems in four main areas.

Customers have seen unprecedented utility savings in both energy and water, productivity increases in the form of improved quality and yield, maintenance savings in both time and cost, and an overall reduction in the environmental impact that can be achieved.

View Application BriefsThe development and launch of the Application Briefs takes the holistic Emech approach and defines the value we bring to individual applications that are relevant to customers we deal with.

Application Briefs are an examination of a particular process or activity and discuss why this application is important to the customer, what are typical issues with the application and most importantly the value that using Emech technology brings to this application.

Application Briefs are more than just a list of references, they present the Emech value proposition in a manner that is relevant to all levels in customer organizations, from floor level operators up to the executive decision makers. These provide a lead into the more technical details contained in both our product datasheets, and the generic engineering application drawings.

Both the new brochure and the application briefs are available online, as well as the previously available datasheets and application drawings. Login to access the datasheets and IOMs View Application Drawings

Emech Control Secures Alberto Culver Project for Jonesboro, Arkansas
22nd September 2007

Alberto Culver Inc, international manufacturer of brands such as Alberto VO5™, TREseme™ and St Ives Formula™ have adopted Emech Control technology as a new benchmark for their new green fields facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The total order of multiple F2, F3 and F4 products will be used as part of a total high value reverse osmosis "R/O" tempered water skid at the new facility. This ultra filtered water provides a mixing agent for the base chemicals used in the production of the range of hair and skincare products that Alberto Culver produces. Accuracy of temperature is critical to getting the base ingredients to blend properly without foaming or degrading.

Based on previous experience at this application in a similar but smaller facility in Redding, California, Emech was more than comfortable in supplying the units in a sanitary form machining and supplying the units with Tri-clover TM or sanitary Class 150 flanges, which met the rigorous standards that the client specified.

The brand new 700,000 square foot plant, costing in excess of US$60 million to build will employ more than 400 staff and will become the new flagship of operations for the Chicago based multinational brand.

The selection of Emech technology for this project is an advocation of our Emech brand principles explains VP Sales and Marketing Nigel Bartlett. Emech focuses on delivering tangible value through superior industrial process control. In particular we deliver real world returns in the form of utility savings for energy and water, productivity increases in quality and yield, maintenance that is simple and minimal, allowing customers to actively reduce their environmental impact.

The plant will be commissioned in 2008, and the design of the skid using the Emech technology is expected to be rolled back into the existing Melrose Park facility once the new plant is operational.

Emech technology installed into South Australian University campus brewery
18th June 2007

Emech technology installed into South Australian University campus breweryIn June 2007 a Campus Brewery was established in a South Australian University to meet 3 clear objectives.

Teach students brewery science
Provide a test lab facility for students and outside breweries to conduct product development and testing of new recipes
Provide a contract brewery service for established micro-breweries

The University called upon Invensys/APV Baker to select, design, install and commission the project.

Emech technology allows precise control and the ability to repeat processes in recipe creationSubsequently Invensys/APV Baker chose Emech F2 2-port control valves and actuators for flow control so they can effectively manage and precisely control a range of flow rates to parts of the process.

The Emech F3 3-port blending valve system was chosen to blend hot and cold liquor, allowing flexibility in the brewing platform to adopt master program flow and temperature profiles from the PLC or from local control via the Emech interface.

Precision control and the ability to repeat processes in recipe creation was the desired outcome of the project. Both the vendor and the University reached that outcome through the smart application of Emech technology and valves in the process design and execution.

F2 Two Port Valves deliver real value to US Brewery - 1st March 2007

Flanged F2 with G1 ActuatorTrials at a leading US Brewery in St Louis have delivered real value to the client in three different applications of the product. These applications show the versatility of this product in its use as both a high performance rapid cycle isolation valve, and an extremely accurate control valve.

In an application using the valve to supply pre and post wetting water to an Alfa-Laval(TM) Yeast Centrifuge, demanding regular actuation of the valve, of more than 400,000 cycles per year. Previous valves were experiencing seat and stem leakage after a short period as frequent as 12 weeks, which created high tangible maintenance costs, and more tacit housekeeping issues for the brewery.

The trial and subsequent success of the Emech F2-025 supplied with socket weld connections has come after more than a year in operation without any leakage or valve failure

The brewery also trialed a flanged version of this product range to control the flow of CO2, and have found the valve delivers a higher degree of linear accuracy, across a broader band of operating angle compared with previous styles and brands of control valve. The result of this has been better control and a reduction in the consumption of CO2 gas in the system.

This particular F2-050 2" inch valve was coupled with a pneumatic actuator and controller, and demonstrates Emech's ability to work in conjunction with other industry standard equipment to deliver solutions that suit the customers needs, and deliver real sustainable value.

The third application also utilizing a pneumatic actuator and positioner provided better control and reduced maintenance costs in delivering flow controlled water in a wash tank in the brewery when compared to an existing market leading rotary action globe valve,

Emech VP Sales and Marketing Nigel Bartlett commented" The outcome of these trials is a significant step forward in demonstrating the increased range of options Emech have in providing value to our customers, and further shows the flexibility we can provide in supplying overall packages to meet the needs of our client".

New Emech Valve solves the "Unsolvable Hides" Problem - 18th September 2006

The development and release of the new F8 range of valves, has been met with considerable savings for the first two customers that have installed the units.

The F8 range of valves have been designed to extend the Emech product set in a scalable fashion, and the 100mm (4 inch) release has been accepted by one of the largest meat and hides processing organizations in the world, as the new standard for tempered water delivery to their hides drums.

The Emech solution is solving a 15 year old "unsolvable problem", and is now saving the client in excess of 1 million US gallons of water per day.

Data on the improvement in hide yield and increased utility savings is still being analyzed but the payback details are extremely encouraging indicates Emech Vice President Sales Nigel Bartlett, who has subsequently visited the client following the installation to ensure that the Emech vision of complete customer advocacy is maintained.

The previous water blending method was slow, inaccurate and unable to deliver sufficient water within the stringent requirements that the hides washing process requires to adequately clean the hides without scalding and shrinking them.

The rotary turret geometry combined with the patented swirl mixer, allows the F8 to utilize a standard Emech actuator and probe to deliver unparalleled performance as a closed loop temperature control solution.

The existing valves were very "maintenance unfriendly", requiring frequent service, and causing considerable downtime in a 24 hour per day 7 day operation. The design of the F8 has taken maintenance and serviceability into consideration, with the unique features of this valve making in line service possible.

The F8 has been designed to be a range of valves. The range is planned for NB sizes 2", 3", 4" and 6". Currently only the 4" valve is available.

The Teflon™ seated F8 valve meets seat leakage standard FCI 70-2-1988 CLASS IV. The design includes a self cleaning capability using an internal metal seat scraper that minimizes potential scale buildup, which is a leading cause of maintenance issues in competitor products.

The F8 has standard end connections of ASME B16.5 Class 150 flanges. The F8 is capable of operating as with either a T-way or L-way mixer.

The F8 can be configured as a direct replacement for older styles and competitor brands of valve that do not deliver the temperature control performance, and flow capacity of the F8.

Our path forward is clear; to continue to deliver value in the three main areas of our customers businesses says Nigel Bartlett.

The F8 has proven its ability to produce utility savings in terms of energy and water, increase process yields, and reduce maintenance costs, and will provide leverage for Emech to deliver value in other applications and with other customers using this product.

Emech Valves Presented in Sanitary Version - 15th September 2006

The selection of an Emech F3 presented using sanitary Tri-clover™ fittings has further increased the application base for Emech valves.

The American Water Technology project to provide tempered water to a Reverse Osmosis plant required the valve to be presented in a hygienic and sanitary form.

By electro polishing the valve components and butt welding Tri-clover™ fittings ensured that the valve met the stringent standards required by the end use customer, in their cosmetic plant application.

The design process, and quality manufacturing standards applied to the production of this version of valve, has meant that all the F3 range can now be supplied in this form. Contact Emech Control for further details.
