What are the merits of using “ceramic disc” technology?
The extremely hard nature of ceramic produces outstanding resistance to wear and cavitation damage compared with conventional elastomer and plastic seated valves, minimising seal replacement and plant downtime.
The shear action of ceramic-disc provides tight shut-off as well as fast, accurate control.
What type of applications are Emech Valves & Actuators
ideally used for?
Emech’s valve systems are suited processes where very fast
and accurate control is required.
What industries currently use Emech Control products?
Emech systems have been installed in the following industries: Meat
Processing, Tanning, Pharmaceutical, Brewing, Dairy and Bakeries.
All providing critical water temperature mixing.
Can the Emech Actuator accept an external signal?
Yes. The actuator accepts a 4-2mA setpoint signal which can be
provided from most PLC / SCADA operating systems. This option
can be selected at the keypad located at the top of the actuator
by selecting REMOTE mode.
Can the Emech Actuator provide an output signal?
Yes, via a 4-20mA output which can be accepted by your PLC or SCADA
operating system.
Can the Emech Actuator be set to work by itself?
Yes, via a 4-20mA output which can be accepted by your PLC or SCADA operating system.
Can I manually intervene the actuator position?
Yes. Every Emech actuator has an emergency position as a standard
feature. This is activated when the manual crank is engaged, thus
deactivating the motor allowing manual change.
When the manual crank is reset, it will revert to its original
position.
How does the Emech Actuator check its position and what
is its accuracy?
This is achieved via an in-built optical encoder with a position
accuracy to 0.03º rotation
What fluids can the 3 port valve mix?
The three port electronic thermostatic mixing valve offers the ability
to control the mix of two fluids, controlling temperature and pH.
What do I need for a typical 3 port installation?
1. Power: You will require a 24VDC regulated power supply, rated
to either 3 amp or 5 amp depending on your actuator model. Emech
can provide 110VAC-240VAC transformers in 3amp and 5amp models.
2. Water Supply: This should be clean water with pressure variations
up to 10 bar (140 psig). We recommend strainers be used in all cases.
3. Non-Return Valves: To prevent backflow, non-return valves (check
valves) must be installed at each inlet.
Do pipe bends in close proximity to the inlet or outlet
ports affect mixing?
Yes – in certain situations. We recommend 6 pipe diameter
straight length at inlet and outlet ports. If you are in doubt,
contact your agent.
What happens if either Cold or Hot supply is shut-off to
the valve?
The valve has an in-built sensor that quickly acts to supply accurate
water temperature.
If the COLD inlet is shutoff, the probe senses the increase in
temperature and rotates the disc to OPEN the COLD quickly (1.2
seconds) searching for Cold. The result, is that it CLOSE the
HOT, making this an attractive feature
If the HOT is shutoff, the reverse occurs, opening the COLD until
there is effectively no flow
What is the minimum flow required to mix accurate water
temperature?
Refer to the Product Specifications table.
Can I introduce water downstream?
No. The downstream water pressure variable will affect the mixing
of the valve
What materials is Emech Valve & Actuator constructed?
1. Valve: All Emech valve bodies are constructed of 316 stainless
steel, Model F2 and F3 contain ceramic discs which are durable and
corrosion resistant. Our valve mounting kit is also 316 Stainless
steel.
2. Actuator: Passive chromate treated aluminium body, which is
then epoxy powder coated .
What standards do Emech Control products meet?
Emech’s G1 Electronic Valve Actuator is designed to meet
CE and C-Tick, EN60730, EN60731-2-8 and EMC standards EN50081-1,
EN50081-2, EN50082-1.
Emech 2 and 3 Port ceramic shear action disc are designed to
meet CE and C-Tick (AS/NZS 2064, FCC47 part 15 A & B) standards.
How can I quickly identify and solve any technical issues?
In the first instance please refer to our Emech Troubleshooting guide. If you continue to experience problems please contact us.
What is the definition of an Emech “Beta release Product”?
This is defined as a new product (or range of products) that has had extensive in-house ‘alpha’ (or proto-type) design work and testing. Beta products are the units built to production specifications and sold within the first year.
They are deemed ready to sell to selected customers.
Product performance feedback from the customers is sought, and may be used to enhance design of the ‘final’ production released product version. Extended support is applied to Emech Beta Products.
